Helping Hudson - A Wheely Great Cause

Hudson is 2 ½ but unlike most children his age, he has had a tough little life! Doctors realised he had an incomplete brain before he was born and as a newborn he was discovered to be legally blind. Hudson has recently been diagnosed with both Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy! His mobility has been hindered severely by his disabilities, however his family and friends wish nothing more than to give him the chance to get moving on his own. Hudson needs a special Wheelchair/Walker, called a Kid Walker. This device will help get him mobile, allow him to play with his brother and sister, interact with other children his own age and give him independence in his day to day life!
This is where the stamping world really comes into play! When a group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators are asked for help they come to the rescue, ink and paper in hand, to work miracles. This is what has happened around Hudson over the last few months. First with his mum’s direct team, and then spreading out across Australia and New Zealand and over in to the US, the UK and Canada! His story has touched so many people so its time to share it with you all!
There is a HUGE online stamping event taking place, called Helping Hudson -A Wheely Great Cause! The organisers have been working really hard, securing support, tutorials and donations to get this event underway. There are going to be three weeks of stamping fun for you to join in – come back as often as you can, there will always be lots more to see, do and learn. It kicks off on the 1st August and will run right through until the 22nd. You’ll find it at http://helpinghudson.blogspot.com

I would encourage all readers of my blog to go and visit the site, I am familiar with the work of a number of the demonstrators who have developed the tutorials for purchase, and would encourage you to consider purchasing a bundle. $10 for 10 tutorials is such a great price, and the proceeds go to such a worthwhile cause.

As well as the tutorials for sale there will be challenges to play along with, and again I encourage you to do so. There will be prizes (for Australian residents) and generally lots of fun to be had.

Loads Of Love

This month Stampin' UP!® have offered 20% discount on a range of 2-step stamp sets. Check out Stampin' UP!® Customer Home Page for more details.
One of these sets is Loads of Love, its a really great set as its so versatile and has an addon set that goes with it, as well as a standard wheel.
I have done some cards with the basic Loads of Love set to show its versatility as a stamp set. I hope you like them ...

This one was just using the pile of hearts from the set, I did this one and the book mark to show the use of the set wasn't limited to the truck.

Cardstock: Kraft, Whisper White, Melon Mambo

Ink: Black, Real Red, Melon Mambo

Stampset: Loads of Love

This book mark is just using the bunch of flowers from the set, I have raised them with a dimensional. Pot is a 1" circle with the top and bottom cut off and sponged to give definition.

This is using the stamp set with the truck - but in the colours of christmas, with some Dazzling Diamonds on the truck to simulate snow. Its almost like Mrs Claus helping deliver a truck load of presents!

For this card I used the Pastels and Blender Pen on Watercolour Paper. It was my first real attempt at using pens on this type of paper, having given up using them on the Whisper White and Very Vanilla. They are really nice to use on the watercolour paper, and the quality of the Stampin' UP! paper is lovely. I wanted to use some different colours so chose Apricot Appeal and Elegant Eggplant for this card - very happy with the colour combo. I matched the colours on the truck with the cardstock and brought out the colour of the hearts on the truck with some punch out hearts which are covered in Crystal Effects and then lightly sprinkled with glitter. The elegant eggplant needed a "little something" so I stamped tiny hearts from the Pony Party set onto it using versamark.

This last one in the group (so far) is a more masculine card, used More Mustard and Soft Suede as the primary colours, water colour using inks onto whisper white cardstock for the image, and finished off with the lovely Soft Suede ribbon.

As you can see, this really is quite a versatile stamp set, and at 20% off for the month quite a bargain! Contact me to order yours today.
